Abrau-Durso

Not far from Novorossiysk there are two villages – Abrau and Durso, which together represent one of the main attractions of the Black Sea coast. The first village is located on the shore of  the same name lake. The famous champagne factory “Abrau-Durso” is based there. Durso is located on the Black Sea coast , so it attracts tourists looking for beach holiday.

At the end of the 19th century the resort had the honor to host high-level guests, then it transformed into a center of wine-making. Now Abrau is one of the most famous wine tourism centers. The resort itself has a  well developed infrastructure and can compete on services quality with European resorts. There are  a lot of opportunities to relax and have a good time in Abrau-Durso, so this resort attracts tourists who prefer calm, comfortable rest.

What to see?

First of all,  the tourists go on  excursions with testing sessions to  the champagne factory “Abrau-Durso”.  The guides tell about history of local wine industry, share the secrets of wine-making and show the cellars where the wines are stored. During the excursion you can taste different champaign and sparkling wines.

Another well-known local sightseeing  attraction is a picturesque deep-sea lake Abrau. Here you can enjoy  beach holiday, ride on boats and catamarans. Fishing fans can hire  necessary equipment and try out their luck.

Tourists who prefer outdoor activities will love jeep tours  across steep terrains. On the way which leads to the village Novosadovy  you will see unforgettable views. There may be several roads, but each of them goes  through mountain rivers, near mountain gorges and peaks. Anyone wishing to try his hand at climbing has a chance to do that, as the mountains here are accessible to unprepared people.

Fans of spectacles and shows are offered to visit the equestrian theater. Special programs and staged performances with the participation of horses are regularly held here. Also  horse ridings are available on the base of this equestrian club.

For tourists  with children.

Tourists, who come with children, will not find  special water attractions here. Aqua parks are situated in the nearby cities. Nevertheless, children can find entertainments here too.  The complex “Russia” is one of them. This complex is a cultural and entertainment place with recreation services for families with children.

Children especially like the “House upside down” attraction. It is a house turned upside down with  an absolutely mirror arrangement of objects and things inside it. The visitors have the feeling that they are walking on the ceiling. Here you can take unusual  merry  photographs. But mind to be careful, otherwise you can get dizzy.

There is a Funny Farmhouse zoo not far from the complex “Russia”. Its visitors can stroke and feed different animals. In addition children can ride horses and practice archery here.

Souvenirs and Gifts to Bring Home

There are plenty of different sea souvenirs and souvenirs with local symbols: magnets, cards, statuettes or shells from the seabed. However, the most popular special souvenir which the visitors prefer to bring home from here  is a bottle of locally produced  champaign. There are several factory shops here with big choice if wines produced by the “Abrau-Durso” factory.
